Javier Aguirre, the technical director at Mallorca, chose to steer clear of the swirling rumors that linked him with America as the top option in the MX league competition. Instead, his attention stayed fixed on his own squad and the upcoming clash against Almería.
He stated, “I must keep my focus on the team. No energy will be wasted on distractions, only on what concerns us. I refuse to see my squad in the same way I saw it against Almería, unrecognizable, disorganized, lacking ideas. We attempted to change things with five substitutions, but the change didn’t come.”
“Almería outplayed us. They hit the target four times and found the net three times. Everyone needs to reflect and concentrate on their work to project a positive image to the fans at the venue.”
Amid the rumors, George Berlanga, Aguirre’s representative, affirmed that the aim remains a renewal of Vasco’s contract as Mallorca’s coach. “We have been performing well for a while. We are on track. The rumors are everywhere,” he told IB3 Notícies.
