Mallorca demonstrated superiority and advanced to the Copa del Rey round of 16 at the expense of Burgos, a 0-3 result that gave the visitors the win on El Plantío soil. Gio González opened the scoring, followed by a strike from Canadian forward Cyle Larin and a final finish by Abdón Prats, sealing Mallorca’s progress.

Even though Javier Aguirre’s squad created a clear early chance, Burgos managed to defend for more than sixty minutes. As the second half unfolded, Mallorca’s control grew, and its dominance finally translated into the decisive breakthrough that sent them through to the next phase.

The match began with pace from the regathered kick-off, two teams pressing relentlessly. Mallorca pressed early; within eight minutes Gio González tried to bend a ball into the net but found only a misfortune with the crossbar. A minute later, Javi Llabrés delivered a header that struck the crossbar, then bounced away from Burgos goalkeeper Loic Badiashile, who had moments to breathe before the game intensified.

Edu Espiau tested Burgos in the 20th minute, but David López read the play well and snuffed out the danger. The two sides traded blows as Burgos had to contend with Mallorca’s threat from the flanks, while the Mallorca goalkeeper Greif had to deal with long-range attempts that required his punching clearances from danger.

Late in the half, a dangerous foul on Abdón Prats unsettled the home side momentarily, yet the action quickly moved forward. The tactical duel saw Burgos cling to every compact moment, while Mallorca sought to unlock the Burgos defense with patient buildup and occasional bursts of tempo. A moment later Burgos faced a setback when Van der Heyden and Ndiaye collided in a bid to press, forcing changes as the home side adjusted for the second half.

After the break, Burgos appeared more focused but Mallorca tightened their lines and reduced the opposition’s chances. The north-eastern pressure yielded a long-range effort from Borja González that barely tested Greif, signaling Mallorca’s renewed intent to close out the tie. In response, Mallorca’s attack grew with Darder on the wing delivering service and Gio González finding a finishing touch that put the visitors ahead in the 62nd minute.

As Burgos pushed to find an equalizer, Bolo brought Fer Niño into play in search of a break. An error by Aitor Córdoba then allowed Mallorca to extend the lead, with Larin probing the defense and Prats providing the support to complete the sequence that finished with a header and a third goal to seal the match late on. The final minutes were played out with Burgos unable to mount a reply, as the ball stayed mostly in Mallorca’s half and the Spaniards sealed the result in the dying moments with a third goal that left Burgos with little to cheer about.
