The Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has renewed his agreement with Real Madrid through 2024, according to the club’s official communications.

Spanish sports media, including Marca, AS, and Mundo Deportivo, among others, reported that the 37-year-old veteran received multiple offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia after the season concluded. He reportedly declined these multimillion-dollar deals to remain with Real Madrid and continue his career in Madrid.

Modric has been part of Real Madrid since 2012. In the 2022/23 campaign, he appeared in 51 matches across all competitions for the Madrid club, contributing six goals and six assists. His market valuation has been cited around 10 million euros by Transfermarkt.

On June 19, after the Nations League final, in which Croatia were eliminated on penalties by Spain, Modric indicated he had already decided his future but chose not to disclose concrete plans for his career at that time.

Previously named a favorite for the Ballon d’Or in 2023, the ceremony for the world’s best football player took place in Paris on October 30, 2023.
