The first quarter began with urgency as the Alicante team faced a late rush from Tizona Burgos, whose defense looked solid and prepared for a fast tempo. Early on, Pérez Caínzos set the tone with a timely foul, signaling a tight start. Tizona connected from long range, twice, as Cremo and Seoane broke through Lucentum’s lines and pushed the visitors ahead with a sharp, 6-22 run. Lucentum found its footing gradually, adapting after the initial shock and tightening the gaps defensively. The visitors committed six turnovers in the period, while both sides traded six three-pointers. By the end of the first ten minutes, the score stood 18-28, leaving Alicante with work to do while Davison entered the court without points to his name in the quarter.
The second quarter unfolded with HLA elevating its intensity, injecting pace and pressure into the game. Tizona Burgos continued to push a fast, aggressive attack but found themselves entangled by a more aggressive Lucentum defense that forced several turnovers. Gudmundsson hit a timely three to shrink the margin to five points, and the rhythm shifted as Diego Ocampo’s squad rediscovered its spark. Davison reemerged as a scoring threat, and his teammates fed off the energy, with Gudmundsson delivering a crucial shot that tipped the balance in Lucentum’s favor. By halftime, the home team had leveled the score at 40-40, a dramatic swing from the earlier deficit and a clear sign that the game was shifting in their direction.

HLA showed its best form as the second quarter progressed. After a timeout with the score at 48-43, Lucentum unleashed a stifling defense that put its opponent under pressure. Harris demonstrated his scoring prowess, and with Davison supplying the playmaking, the pressure translated into a growing lead. A luminous triple from Harris near the end of the period widened the gap, and another long-range strike from Davison in quick succession pushed Tizona into a more critical position. The third quarter closed with Lucentum in control at 69-57, maintaining momentum as the crowd celebrated the New Year with a sense of anticipation.
After the midgame break, the atmosphere grew even more electric as the spectators enjoyed the festive surroundings and a strong performance from the Alicante side. The home team remained focused on protecting the lead while maintaining an aggressive stance on defense. The outstanding play of Gudmundsson and Davison continued to influence the flow of the game, and Lucentum appeared poised to secure a strong result as the final period approached.
We reached the final stretch with HLA holding a comfortable cushion. Yet Tizona Burgos pressed hard, narrowing the gap to seven points with three minutes left. Seoane and Pacheco responded with back-to-back three-pointers, tightening the tension in the arena. The hosts steadied themselves, resisting any attempt to collapse under pressure. Davison delivered a decisive three, followed by a timely steal from Gudmundsson that sealed the edge. Ocampo’s team found one more opportunity to rally, but the closing seconds did not yield the desired outcome for the visitors as the clock ran down on an intense finish.
