Lokomotiv Makes Artem Dzyuba Contract Extension Contingent on Key Averages
Lokomotiv Moscow has laid out a concrete condition for extending the contract of striker Artem Dzyuba. The extension would be automatic if the 34-year-old forward hits a specific statistical benchmark during the upcoming season, according to a report attributed to journalist Ivan Karpov and the club’s telegraph channel.
The reported condition states that Dzyuba would receive a contract extension if he records 12 assists over the next campaign. The news comes as part of ongoing discussions about the veteran forward, who rejoined Lokomotiv earlier in the year.
Back in February, Dzyuba signed a six-month deal with Lokomotiv after his stint with Adana Demirspor in Turkey, where he spent only a few months. Since returning to the Russian Premier League, the striker has shown his enduring productivity in front of goal and as a creator for teammates.
In domestic competition since his comeback, Dzyuba has tallied eight goals and five assists across 11 appearances, establishing himself as Lokomotiv’s top scorer for the season. At the peak of the term, the club publicly announced a contract extension under a 1+1 arrangement tied to performance criteria.
Beyond the current on-field narrative, the football world has occasionally reflected on Dzyuba’s broader moments with his teammates. Notably, back in May 2021, Russian midfielder Andrey Mostovoy from Zenit spoke about a playful instance where Dzyuba appeared as Deadpool during a championship ceremony, a memory that fans still recall when discussing the player’s public persona.
