Lokomotiv’s Artem Dzyuba Signs New One-Year Deal With Optional Extension
Football executive Alexei Safonov commented on circulating reports about Artem Dzyuba’s fresh contract with Lokomotiv, clarifying the club’s position. The statements come through DEA News, which relays what Safonov conveyed to the press.
Insiders indicate the agreement covers a single season with a provision to extend for another year. In parallel, it is reported that Dzyuba would earn a yearly salary of 120 million rubles under the new terms. Safonov weighed in, noting that Dzyuba arrived midseason and has already surpassed several teammates in goals and assists. He added that the 120 million rubles salary does not strike him as prohibitive and that the arrangement appears consistent with the prevailing market for a player of Dzyuba’s caliber.
Artem Dzyuba joined Lokomotiv as a free agent during the winter transfer window. Prior to joining the club, he spent time with Adana Demirspor in Turkey, where his appearances were limited. In the spring segment of Russia’s top flight, the striker delivered nine matches, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
Lokomotiv, guided by head coach Mikhail Galaktionov, sits ninth in the Russian Premier League with 39 points as the season progresses. The team continues to pursue improved results and stronger performances across remaining fixtures.
