A six-week contract defines the next chapter for the club. If the goal is reached, the mission continues; if not, the implications go beyond the continuity of the technician. The latest Intercity coach conducted his first training session just yesterday. The team has a three-day window to deliver its message. At five o’clock on Saturday afternoon, Antonio Solana will debut on the bench in front of Numancia. The priority is simple: win. There is no secret playbook or magic formula involved. Hector Alejandro Sandroni emphasizes a straightforward approach: there is no plan to reinvent the wheel. The squad will be simplified, one system will be used to its fullest for 95 minutes, with no breaks.

Intercity sacked Siviero and signed Alejandro Sandroni

The Argentine coach praised the work and career of his predecessor. “I know him well from Real Murcia. I spent time in the reserve team while he was in the first team. I understand the job, and I know the roster lacked focus at critical moments, the tiny details in games that caused Intercity to slip,” Sandroni noted.

They will stay in the competition until the league ends on May 28.

Sandroni has six weeks to avoid missing August, a scenario nobody foresaw.

After being unemployed for a year and a half, Sandroni spoke about Alicante, saying he was “filled with illusion, desire and hunger to reach professional football and this opportunity fits perfectly with my aspirations and abilities.” Jorge Lopez, its main supporter, added: “We needed a change and the moment had come. After the inertia from recent weeks, it was time to inject energy and fresh air into the locker room. We still have time,” said Intercity’s sports director.

«We will not use 66 systems and 38 structures; we will simplify and use one very well for 95 minutes»

“I want to grow as a manager. I did not need to be reminded about the sums involved. It is hopeful for a club like this to notice me, and I feel good about leading this staff. The goal is to fix the defensive details so the team can win with fewer goals conceded. There was not a lack of work, there was a lack of concentration,” said the Cordovan coach, who searched for a foothold in Spanish football at age 50 after five productive seasons elsewhere.

mourning cannot go on

“The moment of mourning should pass naturally. GustAvo Siviero spent three years here and left a lasting mark. This is football, and it’s part of the job not to get lost. The first day showed maximum engagement. If the same intensity runs through the remaining six weeks, permanence is within reach,” Sandroni asserted, describing himself as a natural and friendly person who avoids hypocrisy.

“I took the role to grow as a coach. The figures were not a concern for me”

“We must shift the mindset immediately so the ball finds the net. The current situation is not dramatic at all. Strengthen defensively, that remains the key, and the rest will follow. The foundation of the work is strong, and that should keep the team focused,” he noted, reflecting on Siviero’s time and the path forward.

Siviero’s reserve will play his first game against the ninth-placed side and currently free of relegation this Saturday at Antonio Solana: “The situation is not dramatic; the defense must improve”

“Six days left. The focus is on defeating Numancia. This is the first step. All attention should be on that match, with humility and respect we can win. There is no room for doubt,” Sandroni commented, eager to be back on the bench and feeling the pressure to compete again: “I will enjoy every second.”

It seems challenging to quickly surpass the predecessor, yet the fear of relegation was stronger than ever. The support staff who felt for Siviero still carry that sentiment within the organization.
