Intercity seals a strategic move as Siviero pushes forward
In a decisive step as negotiations with Intercity progressed, Gustavo Siviero did not wait to complete every detail before publicly confirming the club’s first signing of the term. The Argentine coach continues to guide the team with hands on the wheel. Juanfran Torres, stepping into a role adjacent to Quique Hernandez, has been directly involved in shaping the group that achieved the club’s two most recent promotions under the leadership of Salvador Martí. His influence extends beyond tactics, helping to lay the groundwork for a cohesive, multi versatile squad.
The initial boost in Intercity’s campaign to reach the third tier of national football comes from Emilio Nsue, a Mallorcan player of Guinean descent. Nsue inked a two season deal with the Alicante club after a stint with Tuzla City in Bosnia. His arrival signals a commitment to experience and resilience on the right flank as the team eyes ambitious objectives this season.
Nsue’s career includes involvement with Majorca’s national league side, with more than a hundred appearances in the first division. He began his journey with Majorca in 2008 and later spent time with Middlesbrough in 2016, a period that helped him refine his game at a higher level. His breadth of experience brings a versatile forward thrust to Intercity, with a history that spans across La Liga, English football, and loan spells that broadened his development.
Sports director Jorge Lopez, who collaborated closely with Juanfran Torres, emphasizes Nsue’s value as a player who can operate across multiple positions. Lopez highlights his multidirectional ability and his readiness to contribute meaningfully with his wealth of experience. Nsue is described as a player who can function as a right back, a defender in several systems, and a winger, providing flexibility in the formation. He joins Intercity at a mature stage in his career, around his early thirties, and enters with a high level of enthusiasm and a strong desire to contribute to the project.
Emilio Nsue, born in Palma in 1989, trained through Mallorca’s youth ranks and progressed to the first team, debuting in February 2008 against Villarreal in La Liga. His path included a loan spell at Castellon and a period with Real Sociedad between 2008 and 2010. In the 2010-11 season he returned to the island to rejoin the Majorca first team, underscoring his enduring ties to his home region.
As a forward, Nsue marked his debut at Camp Nou in a memorable draw against Barcelona. He later wrapped up his Mallorca spell in 2014 to pursue opportunities in English football in the second division, signing with Middlesbrough. That move culminated in promotion to the Premier League in 2016. The 17-18 season saw him starting with Birmingham City before a winter move to APOEL in Nicosia, Cyprus. A sequence of loans followed, including time with Apollon Limassol, before returning to a Cyprus club and eventually joining Tuzla City in Bosnia, where he appeared in a brief spell of matches.
Nsue’s international experience includes call-ups with Spain’s youth teams. From under-16 through under-21 levels, he represented Hispano-Guinean heritage at various stages of development. His leadership was notable during the African Cup of Nations held in Cameroon, where the Equatorial Guinea squad, captained by Nsue, reached the quarterfinals for the first time in the nation’s history, marking a historic milestone for the team. This achievement underscores Nsue’s influence beyond club play and into the arena of continental competition.
Returning to Spain two years later, Nsue found limited minutes with his club, yet his time on the field helped him regain form and confidence. He accumulated around eighty appearances in domestic leagues before earning a prominent role back home, where his talent and ambition aligned with Siviero’s plan to add more attacking options. The coach favors a defensive backbone of three central defenders with wide lanes, leveraging Nsue’s experience to maximize offensive opportunities and add depth to Intercity’s structure.
Peña does not accept the Intercity offer and points to Hercules.
There is a notable decision within the club as discussions with a player known as Peña did not culminate in a move to Intercity. The decision shifts attention toward other strategic goals as the team continues to assemble a competitive roster capable of meeting the demands of the upcoming season.
