News emerged that INEOS chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe secured a 25% stake in Manchester United for 824 million euros, a move reported by the UtdPlug account across social networks. The investment comes with a plan to enhance the club’s infrastructure and long-term operations. Ratcliffe’s purchase was directed at the six Glazer siblings, who previously controlled the club and first took ownership in 2005 for about 1.34 billion dollars.

Under the agreement, INEOS is set to inject 300 million euros into Old Trafford’s infrastructure. Of this total, 200 million euros would be issued following the closing of the deal, with a further 100 million euros due by the end of 2024. This arrangement places INEOS in a controlling position over United’s football operations, signaling a significant shift in the club’s governance and strategic direction.

Historically, Manchester United has been owned by Joel and Avram Glazer, whose family ownership began in 2005. The latest stake purchase marks a new era for the club, aligning its presentation and resources with INEOS’s broader sports and manufacturing portfolio.

On the field, Manchester United currently sits eighth in the English Premier League with 28 points from 18 matches this season. The team did not advance from the Champions League group stage and will enter the Europa League playoffs. Arsenal leads the Premier League table with 40 points at the moment.

Upcoming fixtures see Manchester United scheduled to face Aston Villa in the next round of the Premier League, a match set for December 26.

Previously, Andrey Kanchelskis raised questions about Erik ten Hag’s future as head coach of Manchester United, highlighting ongoing speculation about leadership stability at the club.
