The head coach of Yekaterinburg’s Ural, Grigory Ivanov, confirmed that the club is exploring the possibility of bringing goalkeeper Ilya Pomazun back from CSKA Moscow, though no final agreement has been reached yet on a transfer.

Ivanov emphasized that the club would prefer to keep Pomazun, but stressed that his contractual rights remain with CSKA. He hinted that Ural could have mobilized funds to re-sign him, but CSKA has not shown openness to selling the player at this time.

He also noted that if Igor Akinfeev extends his stay at CSKA for another season, Pomazun would be expected to compete for a spot and play when called upon. Ivanov added that the club would be delighted to see Pomazun remain with Ural for an additional year, a stance he communicated on Match TV.

Pomazun is a product of the CSKA Moscow youth system. He first joined Ural on a loan spell in 2020, and in February 2021 the Moscow club recalled him ahead of schedule due to injuries in their squad. Over the past two seasons, Pomazun has spent time with Ural on loan from Yekaterinburg, without a buyout option attached to the arrangement.

Pomazun’s CSKA contract runs through 2025, and during the 2022/23 Russian Premier League season the 26-year-old goalkeeper appeared in 26 league matches, gaining valuable top-flight experience as part of CSKA’s squad. His situation has drawn attention from fans and analysts watching both the Ural club and CSKA closely.

In related notes, former CSKA Moscow midfielder Ivan Oblyakov commented on the mood within the squad ahead of the upcoming match against Spartak in the Russian Premier League’s 28th round, offering insights into the team’s dynamics and competitive spirit as the campaign progresses.
