Madrid missing several regulars
Real Madrid travels without a group of their standout players. Karim Benzema was ruled out with a muscle issue sustained in the weekend clash against Celta Vigo and did not travel. David Alaba and Ferland Mendy are sidelined, Dani Ceballos is suspended, and Eden Hazard remains unavailable due to a fresh knock. Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo each reported discomfort and their participation is uncertain. To bolster the squad, Carlo Ancelotti called up two important youngsters from the cantera, midfielder Mario Martín and the talented Sergio Arribas, who could see minutes in Montilivi.
Against the visitors, Ancelotti might lean on familiar faces like Marco Asensio, Nacho Fernández, and Aurélien Tchouaméni to rest the usual starters. The expected lineup could feature Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos, and Dani Carvajal returning to their regular roles, while Rodrygo could start on the bench with Asensio deployed as a false nine behind Vinícius Júnior and Fede Valverde. If Rodrygo is needed, he remains a primary threat at the tip of Madrid’s attack.

Girona dealing with injuries as well
Girona, coached by Míchel Sánchez, arrive at full strength in terms of depth but contend with seven injuries of their own. In their latest 1-0 loss to Real Valladolid, Aleix García and Toni Villa picked up injuries. Villa’s issue is particularly serious, with cruciate and collateral ligament damage that will sideline him for a significant period. To cover the gaps, Míchel could turn to Reinier Jesus on loan from Madrid or youth prospect Ricard Artero to bolster the midfield. Toni Villa remains hopeful for a swift return, while Roro Riquelme is viewed as a creative option up front for the Catalan side.
