The Flamengo club returns to the Club World Cup with the aim of bringing the title back home.
Flamengo will represent CONMEBOL at the 2022 Club World Cup, where the club intends to defend a crown that eluded them in a prior edition. Brazilians on Friday, January 13, 2023, will learn who their opponent will be for the tournament debut. They will kick off their campaign in Morocco between February 1 and 11, with the waiting opponent yet to be determined for the debut match.
This will be Flamengo’s second appearance in the competition after reaching the final a few years earlier.

FLAMENGO PARTICIPATION IN THE CLUB WORLD CUP
Flamengo reached the semifinals in 2019, defeating Al Hilal 3 1 in a dramatic clash that featured goals from Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique, and an own goal by Ali Al Bulayhi. The final proved tougher, as Flamengo dropped a 1 0 decision to Liverpool in extra time, with Roberto Firmino finding the winner.
Historically, Flamengo also played in the Intercontinental Cup in 1981, overcoming Liverpool 3 0 in Japan thanks to a brace from Nunes and a further goal attributed to Adílio, with Zico shining as the team’s standout figure.
