Karina Istomina, married to Dynamo Moscow forward Fedor Smolov, opened up on her Telegram channel about her journey through addiction. She shared that the birth of her daughter Laura helped her move away from psychoactive substances and find a sense of wholeness she hadn’t felt before.
“I don’t miss the substances and I don’t crave them anymore. Laura’s arrival made a real difference. There’s no point in turning to drink or anything that could wreck what I now value. loneliness and emptiness no longer haunt me. I feel complete and ready to give love to the people who matter,” Istomina wrote, describing a turning point that reshaped her outlook and daily life.
Istomina’s disclosure references a period when she spoke about drug use in 2021 and also mentions a mental health diagnosis—borderline personality disorder—that she has discussed in multiple interviews. The openness surrounding these topics is part of a broader conversation about recovery, resilience, and seeking support in difficult moments.
On June 5, Dynamo Moscow announced that Fedor Smolov and Karina Istomina are husband and wife. The couple shared wedding photographs across social networks, marking a new chapter in their personal lives. They became parents in mid-November, welcoming a daughter who has since become a central source of joy for the family.
In another note on Smolov’s professional path, he renewed his commitment to Dynamo in January last year and has remained a student of the club. The striker first represented Dynamo in the Russian Championship in 2007, and from 2012 to 2021 he wore the national team jersey, participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This season, he has appeared in 21 matches across all competitions for the club, contributing five goals and four assists.
Earlier coverage highlighted Istomina’s public figure as well, including appearances in lingerie photos that drew attention and sparked conversations about her personal journey and visibility.
