Club Deportivo Eldense is pushing meaningful changes in this winter window with the sale and exit of forward Eddie Salcedo, who stood as the least prominent member among the quartet discussed. Without formal approval, the Barça club and Inter agreed to end the loan early, a contract that had carried an option to buy through the season because of the strikers’ limited minutes and the Italian club’s needs. Salcedo did not participate in the final three training sessions of the year, sealing a rapid departure from the setup.
Salcedo will not be remembered in the shoe city for a long, lasting impact at the club. He joined Eldense at the end of August, just as the transfer window was closing, and departed nearly four months later. During his brief spell, he mostly occupied a secondary role under Eldense manager Fernando Estévez. He logged 270 league minutes, added 335 in cup competition, recorded two starts, and appeared in twelve matches in total, contributing two goals and one assist.
One moment highlighted his Barça chapter: a back-heeled pass to Soberón that set up the winner at Huesca, and the equalizer he struck against Racing de Ferrol at A Malata. Salcedo was a restless presence, full of energy but never able to settle in one club for a long period. Inter had paid Genoa 10 million euros for his transfer in 2019, but since then his career has featured a string of moves across five teams without leaving a lasting imprint.
With Salcedo’s exit, Eldense is left with three free agents in its squad, and one of them is expected to be replaced by left-back Álex Martínez, who was retained for the second half of the season. Other January departures, such as Miguel Marí or Arnau Ortiz, remain a possibility. The club has signaled that anyone seeking to move on will be allowed to do so, including Cris Montes, who currently has an offer from Deportivo de La Coruña for two and a half seasons that would come with improved financial terms. Montes continues to play in the 1st RFEF.
In terms of the transfer strategy, Eldense increasingly prioritizes adding a proven goalscorer up front, while strengthening the defense remains a clear objective. Any reinforcements that raise the standard of the current squad are not off the table. The Blaugranas, who demonstrated a knack for sweeping changes in the summer with 16 additions, aim to replicate that impact. The current focus is on reinforcing specific positions in this first half of the season without sacrificing core contributors who have proven their value elsewhere on the field.
