Elche reserve team keeps climbing as promotion race heats up
The Elche subsidiary continues its high-velocity push, aiming to post standout figures this season. The side opened the second round with a solid victory, continuing their relentless run in the Third Division VI, Group 3, against Gandía at the Altabix sports city.
The squad, under the guidance of Ángel Donato and Nino, secured a twelfth consecutive win this campaign. A dominant 3-0 result reinforced their form, bringing their season tally to 16 wins, one draw, and just one defeat. The youngsters began the second round in the same fashion as the first: with three points in the bag.

The Gandía clash started on a bright note. Just two minutes in, Iomar Ajouaou converted a cross from the left by Adrián González to put the hosts ahead. Eight minutes in, the Alcoy native, taking advantage of space near the edge of the box, beat the last defender and doubled the lead.
Iomar then completed his hat-trick by converting a penalty in the 80th minute, sealing a memorable win for Ilícitano. The match showcased his goalscoring prowess, highlighting a key contributor to the team’s attacking threat.
Iomar scored three goals in the Gandía match and now has 20 goals this season, a remarkable tally for a 24-year-old forward. He remains ineligible for promotion to the A team due to age restrictions but continues to be a central figure for the reserve side. His partnership with Mexican forward Jesús Hernández has been particularly effective this season, forming a dangerous duo that has helped the club accumulate a substantial portion of its 48 goals so far. Both players trained with the first team this week, though no goal was recorded in that session for the first-team side this afternoon.
Jesús Hernández, also featured in the Gandía game, contributed to the prevailing momentum as the year progressed, demonstrating a sharp instinct in key moments. The combined output of Iomar and Jesús has accounted for nearly two-thirds of the team’s goals this campaign, underscoring the depth present in Elche’s reserve squad.
The Donato–Nino wave continues to lead the class, and if this pace endures, the title and early promotion to the Second RFEF could be secured days ahead of schedule, setting a strong tone for the rest of the season.

The Ilícitano’s performance stands out as the team move further away from qualification concerns, orchestrating a consistently impressive campaign. There is growing confidence in the young players such as Rodrigo Mendoza and Pamies, who have become regulars in discussions about the first team’s future prospects. The ongoing success reflects well on the development system that supports the club’s broader ambitions.
