Elche CF Transfer Window: Lucas Boyé, Sergio León, and the Right-Wing Dilemma

Eight days remain before the transfer window closes on September 1, leaving Elche CF and many other clubs juggling a flood of open fronts and unresolved questions on both arrivals and departures. The squad is in final mode, sharpening plans for the upcoming campaign.

The club prioritizes strengthening the attack with two forwards. At the manager’s request, Sebastián Beccacece is driving the plan. But before anything else, there is a need to confirm Lucas Boyé’s continuity, a crucial piece of the puzzle.

Lucas Boyé saga persists at Elche

The Franjiverde side remains hopeful that Boyé will stay, with the asking price set at around 10 million euros. That figure is higher than most offers already received at the Martínez Valero stadium.

If Boyé remains, the football committee and owner Christian Bragarnik are actively keeping track of Sergio León and Jon Karrikaburu as potential options. The possibility of keeping the Argentine forward is a priority while the club weighs every contingency.

The club is not ruling out a stay from the Franjiverde if circumstances align, and a link with Valladolid has been discussed as a longer shot. The arrival of Marcos André remains under consideration; the Pucelano team could influence the market and Elche would welcome that outcome—but the balance of the deal would need to work for Elche. Management is watching developments closely.

The sports committee has also examined Marcos André, but early on described the move as highly challenging. The Brazilian striker’s price tag, around two million euros for a transfer from Valencia, has been a sticking point. His preference was to stay with Valladolid if the club faced relegation to the Segunda División.

Jon Karrikaburu remains on Elche’s wanted list. The forward is eager to find a First Division home, yet if that never materializes, Elche is a leading option. The final days of the market will determine the path forward.

If either of these deals lands, Franjiverde would widen the door for Mourad. Beccacece and the club appreciated the performance of the Spanish-Moroccan forward last Saturday, marking a positive start at Eibar.

Another open front for Elche is fortifying the right wing. Fran Pérez’s market prospects are diminishing, and the club is weighing options like Rufete’s son in Valencia and the recently signed Canos for the wide role. Pérez’s strong start in the first two La Liga games makes a direct replacement difficult.

Reinforcing the right flank remains a goal but not the top priority. Mario Gasper is close to stepping on the field, while Alex Martín has experience as a right-back at Ipurúa. José Morente and Tete Morente can also operate as wingers. Once fully fit, John Chetauya would be considered as a right-sided defender. If a strong opportunity arises, Elche will act, but the club will not pursue a player who does not fit the squad’s profile.

The central positions are also under review. While there is no urgent need to reinforce, a noteworthy offer could sway decisions. Diego González is a potential exit if minutes remain scarce and Second Division clubs show interest.

There has been no immediate shift in the center of the pitch. Yet Espanyol’s interest in Raúl Guti has surfaced in recent hours. Guti’s contract runs for two more years, and Elche paid five million to sign him from Zaragoza in 2020, with three installments already redeemed under La Liga terms. He would not depart without a substantive bid of around two million.

As a precaution, the sports committee approached Roque Mesa, whose contract with Valladolid has expired, leaving him without a club.
