Elche CF has always made its fans feel like First Class supporters. And it shows it at every opportunity. The players returned from vacation on Tuesday and quickly slipped back into the team’s rhythm. The next cup clash will be against Girona on Saturday, January 6, at six in the evening. To prepare, the squad held a double session today, the morning drill in front of Díez Iborra and the afternoon session in front of the fans. The event welcomed anyone who donated non-perishable foods, personal hygiene or cleaning products, and even animal feed.

Several hundred kilograms of donations were collected today through the efforts of Grada de Animación 1923, the Province food bank, and NGOs related to the Baix Vinalopó area, including Adopt Mola and the Animal and Plant Protection Association. Responding to the call for solidarity, the participants showed their support with songs and applause, while the players responded with gifts such as balls, scarves, and flags, and autograph signings for everyone who asked, alongside photo opportunities and warm embraces with the young Franjiverde followers.

Head coach Sebastián Beccacece organized a training session full of engaging drills for the fans, concentrating the activity near the Preference stands where the supporters gathered. The arrival period was met with loud applause from the crowd, a response that the players echoed with smiles. Beccacece delivered a brief speech, followed by a warm-up and a game where the players frequently hugged each other. The most anticipated moment arrived: a long lap around the goalkeepers — Miguel San Román, Edgar Badía, and Jesús López — as the fans roared their approval. The crowd cheered especially for Mourad, who needed encouragement to break a recent scoring drought.

The session concluded with a small-sided game focused on pressure and recovery. Afterward, the players posed for photos in the center of the field while the fans filled the stands. They moved closer to the sidelines, listening intently as the players called out supporters by name, including Beccacece. The chorus from the stands grew with chants like, “What a boat, what a boat, Sebastian!”

Elche fans did not forget their arch-rival Hercules, who welcomed the team with songs and banners. One banner carried the phrase that being from Elche was “more than a feeling,” while another encouraged certain players to swap jerseys. The day ended with the distribution of gifts and a visible wave of affection for the fans, especially the youngest followers, who left with big smiles and memories to treasure.

three injured

Besides the heavy blow of losing Óscar Plano for the season, three players are sidelined due to injuries. The club had already noted two of them last Wednesday: Josan Ferrández and Nico Castro, both suffering muscular issues that kept them out of the last two league matches. Crevillentino and the Argentinian were also unable to train with the group during the festival session, making it unlikely they will participate in the first match of the year. Young Ali Houary also faced difficulties, leaving the group during training. The trio did their rehab exercises with the club’s medical staff.

Crevillentino and the Argentinian were also unable to take part in the group during the festive session, which means they will not be available for the team’s first match of the year. Ali Houary faced a similar challenge and left the group during training. The three players carried out individual exercises under the supervision of Elche’s rehab specialist.
