Ekaterina Alexandrova, the Russian tennis player, shared that her family moved to the Czech Republic during her childhood and explained why Prague became their home. Her comments shed light on how a young athlete found training opportunities and a new life abroad, a journey that resonates with many families who chase sport and stability for their kids.
She recalled,
“My mother and father chose this path when I was still very small. We came for a kids tournament, and they really liked the place. There are many courts and clubs to train at, and they are easy to access. They decided to move there and stay. Somehow we have all lived there ever since.”
In late March, Alexandrova participated in the WTA 1000 event in Miami, where she did not reach the final. In the semifinals, she faced the American player Danielle Collins and was defeated, with the match lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes and ending in two sets, 6:3 and 6:2, in favor of Collins.
Just a couple of days later, on April 1, the tennis player broke into the top 15 of the Women’s Tennis Association rankings for the first time in her career, climbing from 16th to 15th place. This milestone marked a notable achievement in her professional journey and positioned her among the sport’s rising talents in North America and beyond.
At the top of the women’s tour, Polish star Iga Świątek continued to lead the WTA rankings, accumulating 10,835 points. In second place stood Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, who had earned 8,045 points after her Australian Open victory. Right behind them, American Cori Gauff sat with 7,205 points, rounding out the podium of the most-followed players in the circuit. The competition among the women’s players remained intense, highlighting the depth of the sport across the regions of North America and Europe.
Meanwhile, the men’s side saw Italian Daniil Medvedev maintaining a position near the top, as he continued to be regarded among the elite players shaping today’s global tennis scene and driving interest across fans in Canada, the United States, and worldwide.
