Alan Dzagoev, the Russian midfielder, did not attend Rubin Kazan’s medical assessment ahead of the team’s training camp, as reported by DEA News.
On Saturday Rubin Kazan held a routine medical check at the Kazan Federal University clinic, ensuring the squad’s health status before the start of training sessions.
Records indicated Dzagoev’s Rubin contract was valid through 30 June 2023, and in the previous season he appeared in 20 league games, contributing three goals and two assists for the club.
Dzagoev joined Rubin as a free agent in the summer of 2022 after leaving CSKA Moscow. The 32-year-old player built a long career with CSKA Moscow, making 397 appearances and recording 77 goals and 93 assists in red-and-blue colors. Dzagoev is a three-time Russian champion and a four-time winner of the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup, underscoring his status as one of the league’s notable talents.
Rashid Rakhimov, Rubin Kazan’s head coach, has publicly stated his intention to extend Dzagoev’s contract, reflecting the club’s interest in retaining the experienced playmaker as part of its long-term plans.
