Double from Alicante at the Spanish Junior Petanque Championships
Petanque, though a minority sport, enjoys a devoted following in Alicante. This weekend, from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23, the Autonomous Communities of Spain Championship will return to the Alicante area. The competition will unfold on carefully prepared slopes at the Poseidón-Playas de Guardamar hotel, in the town of Vega Baja, where players and fans will gather for a weekend of high-level petanque action. More than 300 athletes from men’s, women’s, and youth divisions will represent 17 regional teams and compete for the national title honors in the Division of Honour and its initial rounds.
