Olivia Smart and Tim Dick representing Spain completed the podium in third, posting a score near the top of the field.
Davis and Smolkin have represented the Georgian national team since the summer of 2023. Under the Georgian flag they have claimed two Challenger Series victories, one in Budapest and another in Astana. The pair trains at the Montreal Academy, a renowned hub for world‑class ice dance partners. There had been discussion about potential performances under the American flag in the future.
The International Skating Union suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competition in spring 2022, following the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee. Russian figure skaters ended their international season early, with Davis and Smolkin previously performing as part of the Russian team at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.
Davis has stated that she never intended to compete for the United States.
