The senior tournament is slated for this Saturday, with an exciting new addition planned for Friday: an under-18 and under-16 day will debut, bringing fresh energy to the Costa Blanca Beach Rugby event. The VII Costa Blanca Beach Rugby Platja will return to Center de la Vila Joiosa, continuing the five-on-five rugby format that fans have come to love. Last year’s edition saw a remarkable turnout, breaking records with 25 teams participating, including six from abroad. Among the squads taking part in the senior men’s category are the Virginia Vipers from Ireland, Ovale Beach and Les Minots from France, Costaleños representing Almería, VIP 7S from Spain, Los Pepitos from France, Rugby Labirr a from Spain, and clubs such as Alicante and Elche from Spain. The event also features six top women’s teams, with Sport Rugby Porto from Portugal, Ovale Beach Furies from France, Costa Blanca from Spain, Ribera from Spain, Aranda from Spain, and Rest of the World from Spain contributing to a competitive women’s division.
The program also includes four men’s under-18 teams and six mixed under-16 teams. The tournament continues to attract an international mix, with teams from abroad showcasing their talents on the sandy battlegrounds of Costa Blanca. Notable foreign participants include the Irish Vipers, the French Ovale Beach Marseille, and the current French champions Les Minots in the men’s category, underscoring the event’s growing prestige across Europe.
In the women’s division, the Portuguese side Sport Rugby Porto and the French squad Marseille Ovale Beach are standout contenders. This event remains Spain’s sole stop on the European Beach Rugby Series and the Spanish Beach Rugby Series, a distinction that highlights its significance in the regional rugby calendar. The competition will feature three referees from the European Beach Rugby Association and three officials from the FRCV, ensuring a high standard of officiating and a smooth tournament flow.
Broadcast coverage will be available online, with live streams running on the Costa Blanca Beach Rugby website and the NosTV channel on YouTube, allowing enthusiasts to follow every pass, try, and turn from anywhere. The event continues to grow in popularity and visibility, drawing players, coaches, and supporters from across Europe to the picturesque beaches of Costa Blanca and offering a robust platform for beach rugby fans in Canada and the United States to watch top-tier competition with clear, informative commentary and accessible streaming options.
