Former Sochi midfielder Christian Noboa indicated he might resume the process of acquiring a Russian passport, sharing that the steps were paused due to his current stay in Ecuador and the need to sign documents in person.
“The documents were supposed to be completed now, in February or March. Since I’m in Ecuador at the moment, I can’t sign them. That’s why the process was halted. Perhaps I will attempt it again in the future,” Noboa explained.
Throughout his career in Russia, Noboa has been a familiar figure since 2007. While with Rubin Kazan, he appeared in 159 league matches, claiming two Russian championships and one Super Cup. His journey continued at Dynamo Moscow with 92 appearances, and he later moved to Rostov, where he played 64 matches and earned silver in the league standings. In 2017, he joined Zenit St. Petersburg, contributing to two stints in the city and again achieving the Russian championship.
His tenure in Sochi began in 2019, where he accumulated 116 appearances. The Russian Football Union recognized Noboa as the best RFPL player for the 2021/22 season, highlighting his impact on the league during that period.
Earlier remarks addressed Noboa’s departure from Russia, touching on the reasons behind his move and his ongoing relationship with Russian football clubs and fans.
