Verstappen, aged 24, claimed his sixth win of the year at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. He finished ahead of Sainz, who achieved his eleventh podium of the season. Seven-time British world champion Lewis Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, completed the podium in third after a race that included a controversial five second penalty for Alonso that shuffled the top positions. Mexican driver Sergio Perez remained in second place in the standings after the event and faced a challenging day on track that affected his overall position.

Verstappen currently leads the World Championship with 175 points, 46 ahead of Perez and 49 ahead of Leclerc. The field also featured George Russell and two Alpine teammates in the mix, with Esteban Ocon finishing strongly at the end after a late position gain for his Spanish teammate. After the race, Alfa Romeo drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu completed the top ten in a tight result sheet.

The next round of the Formula 1 World Championship is scheduled to coincide with the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit in England on July 3.

The calendar for the F1 World Tour remains in focus as teams assess performance and strategy ahead of the upcoming grand prix events.
