Claudio Bravo pursues a second trophy in this competition, the first achieved with the Heliopolitans. The clash against Barcelona will take place in Saudi Arabia.

The Real Betis squad faces Barcelona in the context of the 2023 Spanish Super Cup, staged in Saudi Arabia at King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.

The team led by Manuel Pellegrini earned its place in the tournament by virtue of winning the Copa del Rey, while the Blaugrana attend this event after finishing second in La Liga last season.

The other semi-final pairs Real Madrid and Valencia, the reigning king of the national cup and the cup runners-up respectively. All four clubs aim to lift the first official trophy on the competition’s track, with Real Madrid and Valencia opening the semi finals on Wednesday, January 11. The two victors will meet in the grand final on Sunday to decide the title.

Note that Barcelona holds the most league medals with 13, followed by Real Madrid with 12. Real Betis, meanwhile, does not have this league title in its record yet and would be claiming its first medal. Claudio Bravo could lift the cup, having previously won it in the 2016/17 season defending the post for Barca.

How do they get there?

Betis reached this stage by beating Rayo Vallecano 2-1 at home, with Iván Balliu scoring an own goal and Brazilian Luiz Henrique adding a second. The win places Betis in fourth position in La Liga, securing a spot in continental contention with 28 points. On the other side, Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid with a single goal from Ousmane Dembélé, maintaining a lead position as the league’s top team with 41 points.

The second semi-final between Betis and Barcelona will be broadcast through DSports (610 in SD and 1610 in HD) and via the DGO online platform. DIRECTV satellite subscribers can log in using MiDIRECTV credentials without creating a new access account.
