The Basque derby in the Conference League race is shaping up as Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao clash for a Europe spot next season.
On Thursday, El Sadar hosts a high-stakes Basque showdown as Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao battle for position in La Liga, each chasing the seventh place that secures a slot in the UEFA Conference League the following campaign.
Currently, Athletic sit in seventh with 50 points, ahead of Osasuna on 47 points in tenth, both aiming to climb into that European berthing.
Reissue of the cup semi-finals
Earlier this season, Osasuna and Athletic met in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Jagoba Arrasate’s Osasuna defeated the Lions at home in El Sadar before a 1-1 draw at San Mamés. Osasuna ultimately fell 2-1 to Real Madrid in the final.
