HE Attic Go Elche was on the cusp of clinching the Guerreras-Iberdrola League title last Wednesday, close to an historic first for the club. After a dramatic playoff run, they eliminated the big favourites, Super Amara Bera Bera from San Sebastián, earning a place in the semi finals and the grand final. In the decisive third match they fell to a much stronger Costa del Sol Málaga side.

HE Green Franjiverdes Warriors coach Joaquín Rocamora led the team to a season that saw them reach the Queen’s Cup quarter finals and the semi finals of the EHF European Cup, an achievement described as extraordinary. The only thing missing was a league title to crown the effort.
“It was a campaign built with nine new players, making the squad younger again with 19 and 20 year olds. We started the season facing many injuries and tough losses, and there were doubts about the project at the outset,” Oriolanal recalls the coach.
“I had warned about the work these players could deliver. He says this is the best group he has ever had, and the truth is they exceeded expectations. I did not expect a final in the Guerreras-Iberdrola League and eight intense playoff games, during which the team maintained a superb mood,” says the AtticGo coach.
Rocamora added that this marks the third time in the season that eight games were played in just over 20 days, a stretch that tested both the emotional and psychological resilience as well as physical stamina of the players.
The Oriolano coach admits there were moments when the team faltered. He believes the group missed an opportunity to win the league and that the final result reflects small details where the team could have improved. It is seen as a moment of transition that could speed up the club’s progress.
“Quino” Rocamora also notes that the squad is almost entirely renewed, with many players on contracts for more than a year and most between 20 and 21 years old. This reassures him that the club’s future looks bright. The season is seen as a turning point for AtticGo Elche, with professional structures taking root and the sponsorship playing a meaningful role.

He is the coach of the green-green team who currently leads Elche toward the national championship, the Copa de la Reina, and the Spanish Super Cup. The coach believes more opportunities will arise to push for finals and titles. The plan is to sustain and further elevate this group, adding a bit more experience and quality in the future. If that happens, the side will continue to compete at the highest level and keep chasing trophies. It is a commitment to grow and keep fighting for titles, even if another run to the final is not guaranteed, the intent remains strong.
