A Russian footballer based in Spain, Dmitry Radchenko, believes Arsen Zakharyan is unlikely to be guaranteed a starting role at Real Sociedad right away. He suggested that Zakharyan needs more time to settle and prove himself beyond simply taking part in cup competitions, as the competition for places in the squad is intense.
Radchenko pointed out that the adaptation process has taken longer than expected. He noted that Arsen is viewed as a foreign player who must outperform the local players to secure a regular spot. The path ahead requires consistent, full commitment—100 percent effort every day. If Arsen eases off, the issue of a difficult integration could quickly resolve itself. Nevertheless, Radchenko stressed that Zakharyan certainly has the talent and the opportunity to earn a place at the club, and he expressed hope that Arsen would be given chances to showcase his abilities, not only with Sociedad but potentially with other European teams as well.
Arsen Zakharyan arrived at Real Sociedad from Dynamo Moscow in August 2023, signing a six-year contract. The transfer fee was reported as 13 million euros, marking a significant step in his career as he sought to establish himself in one of Europe’s top leagues.
The Russian midfielder made his debut for the new club in a match against Las Palmas on August 25. His first season saw him battling through health setbacks, including a bout with coronavirus, which interrupted his game time. Earlier, Zakharyan’s former CSKA Moscow teammate hinted at a willingness to leave his current club in pursuit of opportunities in a larger European stage, even if it meant taking a pay cut.
