Antony stands accused of attacking his former partner while she was pregnant, including an incident where a headbutt and a severe hand injury were reported.
In an interview published by the Brazilian site UOL, Gabriela Cavallin, an influencer and DJ, described a pattern of alleged assaults by the footballer who plays for Manchester United and hails from Brazil. She claimed the abuse occurred on multiple occasions between June 2022 and May 2023, with the most recent account describing a glass being hurled at her and a deep cut to her hand when she attempted to defend herself.
Cavallin reported to UOL that the first incident occurred on June 1, 2022, when she was pregnant and vacationing in Brazil. She alleged Antony forced her into a car, attacked her, and threatened to eject her from a moving vehicle at high speed. She said the fear was overwhelming and that she was left trembling and shaken, noting that she was hospitalized the following day. The report indicates that she later suffered a miscarriage at roughly 16 weeks of pregnancy.
The UOL piece also recounts a January 15, 2023 incident in which Cavallin testified in court that Antony headbutted and punched her, causing a breast implant to dislocate. She described the impact as a chest strike that caused the silicone prosthesis to flip and required surgery. She claimed he later insisted the act was accidental, stating that he only pushed her and held her against a wall, a narrative she disputed as inconsistent with the injury she sustained.
On the day of the operation, Cavallin said a physician treated her in a room at a hotel in Manchester, according to the UOL report. She later described a May 8, 2023 incident in which her finger was severed. She recalled feeling compelled to leave the relationship but felt unable to do so at first, citing strong emotional ties and hopes tied to the early days of their relationship. The account described a moment when Antony reportedly locked the door and prevented her from leaving, leading to a painful finger injury and damaged belongings, including her passport.
Cavallin filed a police report with authorities in Sao Paulo in June 2023. According to the same coverage, she also lodged a complaint with Greater Manchester Police. Manchester United was contacted for comment by GOAL but declined to address new allegations, reiterating Antony’s prior denial from June. These developments prompted ongoing scrutiny of the player’s conduct and public persona.
In response, Antony released a statement in late June denying the accusations and addressing the investigation. He said he would speak for the first time since being accused, expressing a desire to avoid interfering with the process. He described the period as immensely challenging for him and his family, noting his humble beginnings and insisting that he has never faced such allegations before and does not deserve a prejudicial public trial. He expressed confidence that the investigation would prove his innocence and pledged gratitude for the support received during what he described as a difficult time.
The individual at the center of the allegations had joined Manchester United from Ajax in August 2022 for a record transfer fee and featured in the club’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in a recent match. He had also received call-ups for Brazil in the lead-up to a World Cup qualifier but was later withdrawn from the squad, pending the resolution of the case and ongoing investigations.
