Russian swimmer Anna Egorova shared a photo from bed in a series of Instagram stories, noting that the owner of the company Meta is viewed by some as an extremist and is banned in Russia.

Toward the end of the summer, Egorova voiced hope that she could compete in the Paris Olympic Games scheduled for 2024.

During the European Championships held in Budapest in May 2021, Egorova earned bronze in the 4×200 meter freestyle as part of the mixed relay team. She also claimed bronze in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:26.56. Additionally, she earned a silver medal in the 400 meter freestyle.

The Paris Games were set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

At a meeting of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee on March 28, 2023, it was proposed that Russian athletes could remain in neutral status provided they were not actively supporting military operations. Athletes affiliated with law enforcement agencies and armed forces would be barred from competition.

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) prohibited Russian and Belarusian swimmers from competing under its banner in March 2022, even under a neutral flag.

Earlier, Kushanashvili referenced the name of the Russian skater she wishes to sleep with.
