Alina Zagitova: Olympic Champion, Academic Pursuits, and Recent Sporting Moves

Russian figure skater Alina Zagitova sparked conversations about a potential romance with singer Yegor Creed after she posted a joint photo with him on his photo channel. She captioned the image with the words “Birthday boy.” In the photograph, Creed is seen embracing the skater and gently kissing her on the forehead, a moment that quickly circulated across social media and fan forums.

On June 19, Zagitova celebrated a significant academic milestone, defending her thesis with high marks. Her diploma was awarded for work titled “Production and Cultural Policy,” highlighting a blend of sports discipline with cultural sector insights. This achievement underscored her versatility beyond the ice and her commitment to education alongside elite athletic performance.

Zagitova rose to Olympic prominence when she claimed the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Games. Her collection of achievements also includes gold at the 2019 World Championships and medals from the 2018 and 2019 European Championships, where she earned both gold and silver. She remains a historic figure in Russian skating as the only solo female skater to earn all major World Championship titles, and she stands as the second skater ever in global history, after Kim Yu-na, to win all world titles in the sport. After a career pause in 2019, Zagitova did not declare retirement and kept the possibility of a comeback open.

On June 6, Zagitova shared that she was considering a foray into coaching. The athlete has also publicly acknowledged moments of gratitude, including a note to Lyusya Chebotina for the invitation to the MUZ-TV awards, illustrating her ongoing engagement with the broader sporting and entertainment communities.
