Seven days after their previous success at El Collao, Alcoyano claimed victory again, defeating Algeciras thanks to a strike from Imanol. The match ended amid a controversial stretch: complaints of racial slurs against Diori from the visiting side sparked six minutes of stoppage time near the end, and tensions flared between some Algeciras players and local fans.

In terms of sheer footballing terms, Vicente Parras’s team controlled the pace from the opening whistle, pressing high and looking to translate dominance into goals. Algeciras, guided by former Herculano player Lolo Escobar, appeared to pursue a plan built around organization and countering the home side’s momentum, while the Alcoyano coach was honored for reaching a milestone: 150 appearances in charge of the club.

Alcoyano is not free from errors

Juanan produced the first sharp moment, and Alcoyano’s control was evident as Lucho García had to stretch to keep Ganet’s shot out of the far corner. Yet, as in recent outings, that pressure did not always convert into clear chances, and Alcoyano wasted a promising one-on-one by opting for too many diagonals in the second half.

With ten minutes remaining, the pressure paid off. Ganet’s corner found the near post and Imanol seized the opportunity, breaking free to drive home and seal the result. The moment Bolstered the team’s mood and shifted the match’s dynamic, lifting Parras and his players after a period of flat spells.

Incident with Diori

Yet the win carried a cloud. In the 90th minute, a foul in favor of Algeciras sparked a heated exchange. Diori confronted the referee with visible frustration. After brief consultation with his coaching staff and members of both teams, Diori left the field and sat near the bench, visibly agitated. The officials called for police assistance, and play resumed six minutes later with Diori returning to the pitch before the match ended.

After the final whistle, Alcoyano players saluted Diori, led by Ganet as they headed toward the locker room. However, some Alcoyano fans clashed with players and officials outside the tunnel, necessitating intervention by security and refereeing personnel to restore calm.

In the referee report, Ojaos Valera did not document any public incident or provide a stated reason for the six-minute delay. The report noted that Álvaro Vega and Admonio were sent off for initiating a mass altercation after the match. Algeciras did not publicly address the situation involving its player in its official communications.
