Alcoyano looks to bounce back after Ibiza setback
Alcoyano saw a three-game winning run halted by a loss in Ibiza. Led by coach Vicente Parras, the visitors pressed hard but were undone by a moment of individual brilliance from Álex Gallar and the sharp finishing of the Ibiza striker, yielding the decisive score in the closing stages.
Alcoyano aims for a fourth straight win against Ibiza
INFORMACIÓN
Ibiza opened with purpose, taking the lead after just six minutes when a charging run down the left by Álex Gallar created space, and a low cross to the near post found Obolskii waiting to finish.
Alcoyano responded immediately but could not convert their pressure. On a set piece, Farru soared to meet a corner, directing his header toward the goal, only to strike the crossbar and miss a golden chance to level matters.
The equaliser in the first half came through a pair of quick ball movements that pierced the Alicante defense. Ibizan midfielders found gaps behind the back line, and Valens faced tight tests on both occasions. In the first instance Olabe connected with the goalkeeper Javi Jiménez for a crucial one-on-one save, and in the second, Rubén Díez assisted Gallar, with Valens denying the shot twice to keep the score level at that stage.
Between halves, Alcoyano’s goalkeeper remained a key figure, repelling several dangerous Ibizan attempts and preserving the slender margin. The decisive moment arrived when a penalty was awarded after a challenge on an Ibiza attacker in stoppage time of the first half. Ojaos Valera, the opposing goalkeeper, gave the spot-kick, and Álex Gallar converted to restore Ibiza’s lead.
Failed changes
Parras attempted to reinvent the game after the break with a triple substitution, trying to disrupt Ibiza’s five-man defensive block and add more presence in midfield. The plan did not produce the desired effect, and the hosts extended their advantage to 2-0 with a well-worked move finished by Gallar after a rapid build-up on the right between Soko and the Cameroonian forward.
With the match already tilted, Ibiza settled matters in the final moments as Alcoyano pressed for a way back. Lara’s well-struck diagonal effort from the edge of the area narrowly missed, and the game drifted toward its conclusion with Ibiza maintaining control and Alcoyano left to reflect on the missed opportunities that punctuated what had been a promising campaign.
