Alexander Kogan, Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), said that four skaters who changed their Russian citizenship at the beginning of the year returned to the country and plan to continue competing for Russia.
“Only in the first half of this year, four athletes returned to Russia – Anastasia Kobzareva, Andrey Kakaraza, Alexandra Lyubimova and Arina Panfilova. All of them have now been reinstated into sports citizenship. It is also worth noting that in the last few years, cases have become more frequent when national federations withdraw a request some time after they have submitted it,” Kogan said. TASS.
Recall that the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competition. ISU announced this decision with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This decision was approved at the ISU congress in early June. It is of uncertain nature.
Russian skaters completed the international season ahead of schedule. They failed to compete at the World Championships in Montpellier.
It was previously reported that ISU bans Russian skater Yegor Murashov from competing for Switzerland.
