Russian national football team Valery Karpin’s coach, Valery Karpin’s wife, Daria Karpina, said her family would not be affected. Estonian government bans entry to Russian citizens.
“This decision will not affect my family in any way. I, my husband and my children are citizens of Estonia. It is okay with us. How did you react to this decision? No, because I have nothing to do with these decisions. I am outside of politics, so I do not comment on anything,” says Karpina Sports24.
Daria and Valery Karpin were born in 2017 in Narva (Estonia), where they played their wedding. The couple has two daughters.
Valery Karpin became the coach of the Russian national team in 2021. Under his leadership, the national team reached the playoffs of the 2022 World Cup, but could not participate in them due to suspension. In March, he decided to return to Rostov and combine the management of the club with work in the national team.
On May 2, he became acquainted with the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to exclude the Russian national team from the League of Nations and Russian clubs from European competitions in the 2022/2023 season.
In September, the Russian team will play a friendly match with Kyrgyzstan.
