Nintendo officially revealed the specifications of the long -awaited Switch 2 Hybrid console, which confirmed a number of technical characteristics that were previously discussed in leaks. Although part of the data in question remains, the most important parameters of the processor, images and memory are now known.
The heart of the console was the Nvidia T239 custom chip with eight nuclear arm Cortex-A78c. However, only six of them are available for the developers – two are reserved for the system. It is curious that the processor frequency in portable mode (1,100 MHz) was higher than when connecting the DOK (998 MHz). Experts suggest that this can be due to the balance between performance and energy consumption, especially taking into account the reduction in memory of memory in mobile mode (68 GB/s versus 102 GB/s). At the same time, the maximum frequency of the CPU 1.7 GHz achieves – this spare will probably be used to optimize the loading of games, as was implemented in the first switch.
The Switch 2 graphic processor is based on the architecture of Ampère (Nvidia RTX of the 30th series) and comprises 1,536 Cuda -Cores. With the GPU -Dock it speeds up to 1 007 MHz, with 3,072 teraeflops, and in portable mode the frequency decreases to 561 MHz (1.71 terraflops). The theoretical maximum – 4.3 Teraflops at 1,400 MHz – remains a mystery: it is not yet clear whether the games can use this potential. For comparison: the mobile RTX 2050 shows 15-40% higher rates, but direct comparison is incorrect because of the difference in optimization for the console and PC.
The console received 12 GB memory LPDR5X, 3 GB of which is allocated for system tasks. This is an important step forward compared to the first switch, with only 3.2 GB of 4 GB available for developers. Support for DLSS and Ray Tracing has been confirmed, but there were no games with RT games that are probably still dealing with due to the high load on resources. Also in Switch 2 there was a FDE -hardware -decompressor, which charge data without tax on CPU, and UFS 256 GB drive with the possibility to expand MicroSD Express cards.
The console display is a 7.9-inch LCD with a resolution of 1080p, HDR10 and VRR support up to 120 Hz. However, the variable renewal frequency only works on the built -in screen – however, via HDMI This function is not available for the TV. Another nuance is a built -in voice chat that greatly influences the performance: Nintendo has given the developers a special tool to test the load on this function.
The first games for Switch 2 is expected to be announced on 5 June. It is still difficult to assess how the indicated characteristics will influence the final experience, but it is clear that Nintendo remains balanced between innovations and usability, so that direct competition with Sony and Microsoft in the “technological race” is avoided.
