Microsoft started forced distribution of Windows 11 24H2 UPDATE

Microsoft Corporation has moved to the last distribution phase of Windows 11 24H2 update, which is now automatically loaded for computers without the permission of the users. It turned out that the system independently initiates the download of files, even if the owner of the device does not manually check the availability of updates.

According to sources, the update appears in the “Windows Update Center” section immediately after clicking the button “Check the availability of updates”, but only starts loading when attaching the promotion. For many users, however, the process starts without their knowledge that this applies to the editors of Home and Pro on versions of 23h2, 22h2 and 21h2, not controlled by IT services of companies. After the download is completed, the system reports the need to restart, but it is impossible to cancel the installation – only a delay for a limited time is available.

An exception dispositions under the control of organizations where IT departments control the process through special tools. For other users, 24h2 remains a matter of time: Microsoft gradually increases the pressure, reducing the possibility of leaving new versions of the operating system. Before installing the update, check the compatibility of the device in advance with the update and make a backup copy of the data – this minimizes the risks of malfunctions after a forced installation.
