In the Google application, the translator found signs of a new function – “practice”, which will bring the service out of the reach of a simple translation. Users are offered game exercises for training English and Spanish, but the system is still under development: the section causes errors and the release date is not announced.
According to the code analysis, the mode will be available after authorization and requires access to the microphone – probably for pronunciation exercises. This is a continuation of the trend: cards published in 2019 to remember words, and in 2022 Google announced the addition of 24 rare languages via AI models.
A recent service update included 110 new languages, with more than 600 million people. Among them are the Canton dialect, the Manky language (new life revived on the island of humans) and African adverbs, such as Von and Volof. To teach models, Palm 2 was used – this system analyzes the connection between related languages, for example Hindi and Avadhi, which accelerate the addition of less common options.
The idea is to help users not depend on automatic translation. Tok-Pisin (the language of Papua-New Guinea) is often understood by English carriers, but without practice it is difficult to control. The new “practice” function can be a free analog of educational platforms, especially for those who already use a translator as a dictionary.
Until now, the function is available in the form of a non-working button in the beta version. If Google leads the idea to the release, the service that is installed on millions of devices is a tool for daily training, as a supplement to the translation options of the educational component.
