Adata announced the release of a new memory card SD Express 8.0. The device is characterized by a high data transfer speed: up to 1600 MB/s when reading and up to 1200 MB/s during recording. This became possible thanks to the use of the PCIE Gen3 X2 interface instead of one channel, as in the previous version of SD Express 7.0.
A model called Premier Extreme SD 8.0 Express is still presented in the only version – with a memory of 512 GB. In the future, the company considers the opportunity to expand the line, but so far focuses on a limited demand in this segment. According to the manufacturer, the card is suitable for tasks that require a high speed: 4K video records, working with photos in RAW format and quickly copy large amounts of data. The device is also compatible with older standards, although in this case the speed will be limited.

The interest in the SD Express format can be intensified thanks to the expected output of the Switch 2 gameconsole from Nintendo, which will use this specific type of disk according to the provisional data. Together with the Adata card, I also announced the compact USB-Drive UE720 and the EC680 case for the external connection of M.2 SSD. The first of them offers reading speeds of up to 550 MB/s and the recording of a maximum of 450 MB/s, the second-to-on-to 1050 MB/s at connection via USB-C. The costs of new products have not yet been expressed.
