Analysts discovered that almost a quarter of all illegal sites in the world were registered in the Russian domain zone. At the same time, most of such resources are physically abroad – in the Netherlands, the US and Germany, who complicate their blocking. In 2024 alone, Russia limited access to 12.5 million Pi -Pages, including social networks and video -hosting -this is 42% more than a year earlier.
Experts connect the popularity of domain in pirates with low costs and simplicity of registration. For comparison: in the global .com zones and .Online, the share of illegal means is almost half as much. However, the majority of traffic for Russian pirate platforms is received from abroad and the sites themselves are rarely on domestic servers.

The study showed that 12 important maintenance networks (CDN) offer a maximum of 90% illegal online cinemas. Among them are the leaders of Alloha and Rewall, whose infrastructure includes thousands of domains for posting video and built -in players. For example, the basis of one of the balance sheets can contain more than 550 thousand video files. At the same time, CDN actively uses technical tricks such as web socket connections to go around the lock.
Analysts notes that the fight against individual sites is not effective. In 2019, the closure of three large CDNs temporarily reduced the activity of the pirates, but they quickly restored the infrastructure. Experts insist: to stop illegal traffic, you must influence providers that offer the pirates a technical basis. In the meantime, the international deployment of servers makes this task complicated.
