Spartak’s new sports director Francis Cahigao described working at the Moscow club as the biggest challenge in his career. He mentioned this in an interview official club channel In the social network VKontakte.
“It was a very difficult decision for me. Spartak had contacted me in the past. I saw how ambitious the club leaders were. “Perhaps Spartak is the biggest challenge in my career,” Cahigao said.
Spartak announced the appointment of Cahigao as its new sports director on January 3. The last club of the 55-year-old specialist was the Turkish Galatasaray. He previously worked as head of scouting at Arsenal in London and was also technical director of the Chilean Football Federation.
On 10 November, Spartak announced that sports director Tomas Amaral had resigned from the team.
Before the winter break in the Russian Premier League (RPL), Spartak won six matches in a row, including four crushing victories in these matches. The red-whites collected 37 points at the break and ranked third, two points behind the leaders Krasnodar and Zenit.
