Former Google Android developers have announced the creation of a startup /dev/agent, which will develop a cloud operating system to support AI agents. This project marks a new stage in the evolution of artificial intelligence and provides a platform that can run on various devices: from smartphones to cars.
The startup’s co-founders include Hugo Barra, Google’s former vice president of Android, and David Singleton, who previously held a similar position. In addition to Barr and Singleton, key roles in the project were filled by Ficus Kirpatrick, previously Meta*’s vice president of AR and VR, and Nicholas Jitkoff, responsible for ChromeOS design. The startup’s idea is to create something similar to Android for AI, but focused on the needs of modern intelligent agents.
AI agents, already used by companies like Microsoft and OpenAI, perform tasks with minimal human intervention. The new startup plans to not only build on this concept, but also offer a fresh approach to the way users interact with AI through innovative interfaces and privacy models.
A major investment round is expected to be announced next week, which will allow the startup to reach a new level of development. The creators of /dev/agents are confident that their platform will become the basis for future AI technologies and will significantly simplify the process of creating smart agents.
