Head coach of Metallurg Magnitogorsk Andrei Razin urged Samara officials not to abandon hockey in Tolyatti and help the Continental Hockey League (KHL) club Lada. The expert stated this at the press conference he held after the match.
“I want to appeal to the authorities of the Samara region. Lada became the first non-Moscow club to become champions of Russia. Men are fighting and struggling. Please do hockey in Tolyatti, it is a great outlet for the city,” said Razin.
In a KHL regular season match, Metallurg defeated Lada. Regular time ended with a score of 1:1 and the penalty shoot-out was more accurate for Magnitogorsk.
Lada returned to the KHL last season after a five-year absence. The club was expelled from the league in 2018. The team won the Russian Championship twice in its history, in 1994 and 1996.
