By the end of this year, Microsoft will officially end support for the Windows Mail, Calendar, and People apps. Notably, Windows Mail users will no longer be able to send and receive emails, or use Calendar to mark meetings. The end of support also affects the Outlook desktop application, about which Microsoft has already started showing notifications to users.
Microsoft has introduced a new Outlook for Windows, available in the Microsoft Store. At this point, users can independently decide whether to switch to it or continue using the classic version. The old Outlook interface has a “Try New Outlook” toggle, but the new Outlook is disabled by default. Over time, this default will be activated and returning to the old version will no longer be possible. The full transition is expected to be completed after December 31.

The company offers useful tools to automatically or manually transfer data and emails to the new application. Microsoft says the new Outlook is more secure and powerful than older apps, and encourages users to upgrade to the updated version for better data protection and a better experience.
