Basketball players playing in Russia banned from being called up to the French national team

The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) deprived players of the right to be called up to their country’s national teams who did not terminate their contracts with Russian or Belarusian clubs. It is reported official website organizations.

The decision also applies to all members of the national team delegations. The FFBB asked them to sign a document confirming that they have no obligations to Russian or Belarusian clubs.

Otherwise, the player or employee may not qualify for a call-up for any international competition, including the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Former Euroleague shareholders voted down excluding Russian clubs next season.

At the end of February, the Euroleague Council decided to suspend the participation of Russian clubs in European tournaments. It was connected with events in Ukraine. Then Russian clubs were excluded from the tournaments and their results were cancelled.
