The 19-year-old Russian forward of the Philadelphia club of the National Hockey League (NHL), Matvey Michkov, scored his first two goals in the league.
The Russian scored a double against Edmonton in a regular season game. Michkov scored both goals in the first half of the first period.
The meeting ended with a score of 4:3 (overtime) in favor of Edmonton.
In the next game, Philadelphia will play Seattle. The meeting will take place on October 18. The teams will take to the ice at 5:00 Moscow time.
At the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Michkov was selected seventh overall in the first round by Philadelphia. The 19-year-old forward started the new season of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) at SKA with a time of 6 minutes and 12 seconds. He then moved to Sochi on rent. Michkov played in a total of 48 matches in the 2023/24 season and scored 19 goals and made 22 assists in these matches.
In the completed NHL season, Philadelphia finished 11th in the Eastern Conference and failed to make the playoffs. Florida won the Stanley Cup by beating Edmonton in the final series.
