Major changes are coming within Samsung in the field of semiconductor production. The company plans to seriously reduce leadership positions for the sake of competitiveness and savings.
According to Korea Economic Daily, Vice President Jun Young-hyun has approved the reduction in the number of heads of semiconductor divisions. The company currently has 438 management employees, three times more than its direct competitor SK hynix. Moreover, Samsung recently even had to publicly apologize for the company’s low profit expectations, which were mainly caused by problems in chip production.

As Wcctech writes, a significant portion of executives were hired during the 2017-2018 “semiconductor boom.” However, this did not really help in increasing production. Samsung is expected to lose another $1.5 billion this year.
Previously, owners of outdated Samsung smartphones complained that one of the updates caused their devices to crash en masse.
