With the release of the Vitals app, Apple Watch smartwatches have learned to predict diseases. Users on Reddit said the program provided advance warning of the risk of catching a cold.

The feature was tested by redditor dalethomas81. He said Vitals predicted the risk of illness three days before waking up with a mild illness. Other users also reported that the application correctly determined the predisposition to colds even in the beta version.

Vitals is available on Apple Watch Series 8 and newer models that support watchOS 11. The app collects health data from users, including breathing and heart rate, temperature, sleep duration and blood oxygen saturation levels. Based on these indicators, Vitals displays information about your health level, which you can view in the ‘Vital signs’ section. Furthermore, it alerts the owner when this data falls outside the normal range.

Please note that Apple does not recommend the use of Vitals as a way to diagnose diseases.
