Russian six-time world champion in swimming Yulia Efimova believes that the life of a professional athlete is impossible without international tournaments. Her words are guiding “Match TV”.
“I can’t answer that, but I hope our guys will get neutral status. Otherwise, the federation will accept it. I respect Russia’s domestic competitions, but it is impossible for an athlete to live without international tournaments,” said Efimova.
On June 26, the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) denied Yulia Efimova a wild card to participate in the Paris Olympics.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee issued an appeal to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games at the end of 2023. To participate, they must meet a number of conditions and qualify.
Previously Efimova Complaint was made For accommodation conditions at the Russian Swimming Cup.
