The head of the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (CDC RFU), Artur Grigoryants, said that Zenit St. Petersburg will be fined for insulting forward Alexander Sobolev by fans in the stands of the Gazprom Arena during the Russian Cup match against Rubin. This was reported by “Sports Express”.
According to Grigoryants, the overall decision to impose a penalty on the club will be made based on a combination of factors.
Sobolev’s transfer from Spartak to Zenit was officially announced on August 30. The employment contract was concluded according to the “3+1” scheme.
Sobolev was removed from the starting line-up of Spartak Moscow after the first round match of the current Russian Premier League against Orenburg (0:2). According to media reports, he told head coach Dejan Stankovic that he wanted to leave. Since then, the forward has not been on the field.
Zenit are leading the Russian Championship standings. They have 23 points after nine matches. Lokomotiv have caught up with Krasnodar; they each have 21 points.
Previously, Zenit midfielder Glushenkov’s father rejected son’s problems with gambling addiction.
